Braves massacre Cards
In what was (perhaps) the biggest blowout in HRL history, the Braves continued on their warpath towards the playoffs while putting on quite a hitting display, even by their standards, in a record-breaking night.
From the first pitch it was obvious the outcome of Game 1. The Braves jumped on Lumbercorn for six runs in the first, which at the time was a 'paltry' number. Granted the Cards came back in the bottom of the first with a 3-spot of their own.
After that, though, the Braves just had their way with Lumber's pitches. Dee made a rare, emergency pitching 'appearance', surrendering the final 10 runs in 2-2/3 innings of work. Sprinkle in a couple of Cardinal fielding errors, and their fates were sealed.
Among the records broken in this first game were the most runs by one team in a game, and also the largest margin of victory (league officials are in the process of confirming these records). In addition, Sanchez of the Braves sets a new single-season HR record, currently sitting at 39 HRs, while also becoming the first HRL veteran with 100 HRs for his career.
