FINAL

  (7)
Game 1
Phillies 4, Yankees 1 (7 inn)
Nine's first homer helps sink Cota
Nine's hitting brilliance doesn't just lie in his league-leading walk total. No, no folks.  With a swing of the bat, Nine took Cota yard for his first homer of the year, and adding some extra insurance in the 7th inning, as the 2-run blast put the Phils up for good, 4-1. Prior to the homer, Nine made a bold base running move to score the go-ahead run an what was nearly a close play at the plate.  Peeks (1-3) picked up his first HRL and was masterful, allowing just one hit (a Cota solo homer in the 4th), and fanning 10 while walking just two. Cota (4-3) finesse-pitched in this one, dialing it back a few notches, and still managed to pitch quite well, striking out 7 while scattering nine hits. Shirls had a 5-hit game for the Phils.
