Brewers 6, A's 1
Mathis pummeled by Brew Crew bats
Homers by Joe and Hendi (his league-leading 16th), helped push the Brewers past the A's, 6-1. Defensive woes helped cap a three-run sixth inning that did in he A's and sent Mathis down to just his second loss all year. Mathis (5-2) allowed six hits and walked just one, while whiffing three. Jim West had three hits for the Brew. Hendi (2-6), meanwhile, finally picked up a solid W, going all six and allowing just three hits and fanning three with no walks. Well-pitched game. Mathis (12th HR) had a solo HR in the 2nd inning for the only run they would score.
