Error, ill-advised throw costs the X
With the score tied at 1-1 in the bottom of the ninth, J-Ski muffed a sure grounder on the mound and made an even bigger mistake by trying to gun down Gus on his way to second. The throw sailed into center, and Gus scored easily to give the Yanks the walkoff 2-1 win. Gus (2-2) came on in relief of Scott and pitched 4 scoreless innings to vulture the win. Scott pitched well, allowing just a Christian solo HR in five innings of work. J-Ski (6-3) took the defeat for the X, a bitter pill indeed, tossing 8-plus innings, fanning nine and walking one while allowing six hits. Scott drove in Gus with a base hit with 2 out in the last of the sixth just to tie it at 1 and sent it to extras. Props to Craig Olson, who FINALLY got off the schnide with his first hit of the season. He was 0-for-41 going into that at-bat, a record that may stand for years in HRLTC infamy!!!
