Game 2
Semifinals: Game 2

Unsung Heroes
Even though more than 75% of the A's offense commonly comes from Mathis and Lund (30 of 39 team HR, 68 of 94 team ribbies), it has been the other two Athletics that have consistently been a thorn in the Brewer's side this season. While being awarded the "Sultan of Suck" title, 3 of Jamie's 9 season hits have come against the Crew. More devastating is the fact that 2 of Larry's 5 homeruns have been game winners in both of the Brewers' losses to the A's this summer.  Thursday night…history would repeat itself. In the top of the 2nd inning, with 2 outs, 911 smacked a blooper in front of short for his second straight hit of the game.  Mathis then singled to left, bringing Crew-killer Larry Storey strolling to the plate with 2 on and 2 outs.  Reminiscent of the first time Larry and Hendi (0-2) met, the Big Cheese wasted no time taking one of Paul's offerings deep to left center…a huge 3 run blast to give the A's the early lead.  They wouldn't look back.  Pirate (3-0) shut down the Crew's bats en route to his third playoff victory and a complete game shutout, with some solid help from his defense behind him. A's take control of the series with a 2-0 lead, and look for the swab, err…sweep in Game 3.
