FINAL

Game 2
sm_braves02sm_brewers02Braves 5, Brewers 4
Braves hold on despite errors
The Braves took an early lead in this one as a Larry "Cheezy" Storey ground-out turned into two runs as Rocket scored easily from third and Sanchez took a chance coming in from second. The play at the plate ended up in the Braves favor as Joe looked mystified as to how he missed the tag. That was but one turning point of the game as the pressure built up again in the top of the sixth with the Brewers at bat trailing 2-5. Joe started the inning by hitting what seemed to be an easy grounder towards Cheezy, but one bad hop led to an error and a base runner. Two outs later, Joe hits another error inducing groundball as the play in the outfield was bobbled by Keith Pabon, picked up by Cheezy, and then thrown into right field as Joe came bounding for second. Joe picked up the speed and made it home as the toss from right field was late. New Brewer Dave "Popcorn, Kird Ape" Halvorson came to the plate as the tying runner and looked to hit is second home run of the game as he sent a fly ball deep to center. It wasn't meant to be as Keith was able to track the ball down to make the final out of the game.  It was a game of trying your best to pitch out of trouble, as neither pitcher seemed to have their best stuff. Sanchez (1-0) got the win for the Braves, giving up four runs off of four hits and six walks, while striking out six. Joe Lawrence (0-1) only gave up three hits, but was constantly in trouble as he walked eight batters.
