Dodgers 5, Padres 1
After the offensive explosion that was game 1, both teams settled in for a more traditional wiffle battle. While darkness set in at the rink, both teams approached this game with a little bit of trepidation and a lot of exhaustion. The Padres struck first, scoring a run in the bottom of the first inning as John "Nine" Tillander walked and later scored on a fielding error. That would be the only run that Dodger hurler Tom "Hobbs" Woldum (1-0) would allow as he stuck out 11 Padres on his way to victory. Though walking 6 batters, Hobbs only gave up only one hit in the game, a single to local favorite, Shirls. Meanwhile, the Dodgers bats came alive in the 3rd. Nine (0-1) gave up a walk to Mike "Bliss" Bliss followed by back-to-back hits by Hobbs and Ryan "Dutch" Van Haaften. The Dodgers were not done there; three more walks were followed up by a double up the middle by Dave "Silver" Silverstein scoring 2 more. The Dodgers added an insurance run in the top of the 5th when Bliss walked for the third time in the game and scored on Dutch's ground-out. These teams will meet again August 15, 2005 in what promises to be another eventful (and hopefully shorter) game.
