With the polar vortex slowly loosening its grip on the Twin Cities, believe it or not the 2019 HRL Season is just three short months away. A recent cold weather binge on HRL YouTube videos, specifically old World Series videos, got me wondering about which HRLers have demonstrated the most prolific power in the HRL's Fall Classic. I created a spreadsheet that includes every HRL player to have homered in the World Series, the year and totals for each player in each individual World Series, and sorted them based on most total homeruns. Some items to note:
-Molgs from the 2005 Indians holds the all time homerun record from a single World Series with 5.
-Aquaman (2015), Griz (2018), and Dr. Seuss (2015, 2016) are tied for second with 4.
-Griz is the only player to have hit 4 homeruns in a Series lasting 4 games or fewer.
-The Man has homered in all 8 of his World Series appearances.
-Edgar is the only HRL player to have homered in the World Series for three different teams (Twins-2004, Braves-2007, Red Sox (2011 & 2012).
-Edgar is also the only player who homered in the first HRL World Series (2004) who later homered in another World Series.
-While The Man and Dr. Seuss each have 10 careeer World Series homeruns, 5 of the 8 World Series The Man has played in were Best of 3 Series, while only 1 of Dr. Seuss's was not a Best of 7.
-The Man and Tugboat combined for 19 World Series homeruns, the most of any duo from the same team. Taco and Hondo (Nats/Rays) are tied for second with 14.
