Five weeks into the Fantasy Wiffleball season, we've seen some surprising hot starts, some unfortunate absences and slow starts, and some old Fantasy Studs return to form.  The Deuce has shocked the Wiffle world, blasting 8 homeruns already, three shy of his total from last season, placing him in the top five overall for the team pitching league.  With an OPS over .800 each of the past two seasons, maybe the fantasy world shouldn't be so surprised at the power outburst; now the Pirates and fantasy owners will wait and see if this scalliwagg can continue the momentum for a monster fantasy season.  Another guy who falls in the category of "his teammates may have seen this coming, but none of us did," is Daubs of the Colt .45's.  Everyone thought the Colts would have a slugger to challenge Sanchez for Individual hitting fantasy supremecy, but who knew it wouldn't be DJ?  Daubs is currently boasting an impressive .469 AVG, with six dingers and enough runs and ribbies to make him a fantasy force.  And yes, DJ is putting up excellent stats as well.

After years of hitting for a high average, Marcus of the X has taken the leap, not only putting up monster numbers from the dish, but also providing quality help from the mound, making him the top hitter in team pitching, and number four wiffler in the individual pitching league.  The Man has backed up the pre-season "He's back" hype, and currently sits at sixth overall in the individual pitching league, with plenty of room remaining to move up.  Truck's off-season conditioning program has paid off, as he currently boasts a .439 AVG and 6 dingers, which is especially impressive considering he's already one round through the pitching heavy Eagan West.  Molgs has reclaimed his role as top Tribal slugger, blasting his way to number two on the Team Pitching rater.  J-Ski has returned to form on the mound, and has avoided has traditional early season "slump" at the dish, making him all the more valuable to have on your fantasy roster.  Tugboat, 2006's top Fantasy Wiffler, is making a strong effort to reclaim his crown, as he currently leads the league in Runs, RBIs, and Wins.

Working the Wiffle Waiver Wire

Pick-ups:

Martini (Red Sox)-  While Dr. Jesus will surely return to form, Martini has stepped up and is putting up some impressive hitting numbers in his rookie campaign.  His average may not be much of a help, but in the midst of the potent Sox lineup, expect him to rack up plenty of runs and ribbies with enough dingers to make him a worthwhile investment.

J-Zilla (Cardinals)-  If your team is lacking offensive production, J-Zilla is worth a look, as he currently leads the Cards in all offensive categories.  As the year goes on and he gets more used to league pitching, look for those numbers to steadily increase as well.

JC (Giants )-  JC has quietly put up some very nice numbers, ranking in the top ten in both average and runs scored.  If he can develop a little power, we'll be looking at a genuine undrafted steal.

Drops:

Spaz (White Sox)- Woe is the owners who invested a top ten pick in this slugger.  Rumor has it that he has accepted a job in Madison for the remainder of the summer and will not be a part of the White Sox for any extended period of time this season.
