EAGAN-- A glorious, near-cloudless sunny day in the low 80's greeted the sixteen teams of wifflers at Pilot Knob Park this past Saturday morning, and as we often see in our Wifflepalooza playoff tournament, there were several upsets and even more near-upsets throughout the 26 games that were played on the four fields throughout the day.

When the dust settled, the Red Sox had earned their spot in the final 8 the easy way, by winning 3 straight and avoiding the grueling losers' bracket.  Suprising many, the 13-seeded Twins rose an upset of the Braves to win their bracket and make it to the next round.  Fighting their way through the losers' bracket and getting in were the Reds, who dispatched the scrappy White Sox to get to the final eight, and the Pilots, upset early in the day by the Yankees, pounded the opposition in three losers' bracket games by a combined 32-7, the exclamation point coming when they atoned for their defeat by crushing the Yankees to make it to the next round.  Congrats to all who made it past Wifflepalooza and congrats to the teams that were a win away from getting there and made the day very interesting!

The next stage of the playoffs is on Monday, September 17th, as the 4 division winners await the 4 teams that escaped Wifflepalooza in a best-of-3 series to whittle the playoff field down to 4!

The Wifflepalooza results bracket is below, as well as the final eight matchups and schedule.
