Hungry for more as test vs. Royals looms...

The Tigers entered their eagerly anticipated HRL debut Monday evening a bit shorthanded. With "Tubby" Rosga on a rehab assignment in AAA Denver until June 1st, and "Big Cheese" Parnell tending to urgent family matters, they came into their first doubleheader with only three players. Turns out, that's all they needed. With Teddy 'Doc' Golberg providing most of the offensive support, and firing a 12 strikeout, one hitter in the first game, the Tigers began their run at the Eagan AL title in fine fashion.
"I wasn't real confident about my control going into the game, but I got into a groove and knew I had a solid defense behind me with Seiberlich and Conzemius," the Doc was heard saying after the game. "The hitting was easier than I thought, as the first guy pretty much served it up right there for you."
"Swede" Seiberlich provided the pitching effort in game two, striking out 14, but giving up two solo blasts to the Senators wunderkind Alex Valen.
"I guess he kind of had my number," muttered the Swede. "It feels good to have a quality pitching debut, as my 1 for 14 effort at the dish is surely not going to keep me in the lineup."
Dan "The Hitman" Conzemius (named for his ruthless attempts at hitting on women after a few cocktails) provided sound defense and set the table on offense with patience at the plate and flashes of power when offered a good pitch to hit.
"We're only going to get better with the arrival of the rest of our team," said the Hitman. "More importantly than that however, was the 18-pack we finished, and the good time we had in the Tigers inaugural game.
The Tigers are looking forward to next week's battle with the Royals. They know they may have started off with a lighter opponent, and will be tested next Thursday. It should prove to be a pitcher's evening, but with the arrival of Big Cheese Parnell, they're hoping they get the extra runs they need to win a couple of close games and get where they belong, in first place in the division. Parnell will be donning the #45 jersey in honor of Tigers' slugger Cecil Fielder, and we're hoping to see some moonshots out of him, especially off of the Royals highly touted duo of Truck and Cota.
Week one proved to be both a fun and successful time for the Tigers, they are confident it will only get better next Thursday when they take on the Royals.
