Pitching/Defense:
Brian's excellent curveball has a lot of late, nasty, downward break. He doesn't miss the zone often, so he's comfortable throwing it anywhere in the count. A good riser and slider give him three above average offerings to deal with, which is more than enough to typically cruise through opposing lineups.
Batting/Baserunning
With nearly a 3-to-1 free pass to strikeout ratio, Brian's patience at the plate can flat out infuriate opponents. But don't mistake his keen knowledge of the zone for lack of bat handing ability…he's a very good hitter, with underrated power.
2007 Outlook:
The Rockies appearance in the Series last season was not an anomaly, and neither were any of Brian's numbers. Expect a similar sophomore campaign, maybe exchanging a few walks for hits, just to appease the haters out there.
