PLAYER PROFILE
The 2013 runner up for Hopkins Rookie of the Year and Jack Cust awards
has triple slashed an astounding .408/.530/.891 in his young HRL career.
While 2013 saw him terrorize Hopkins pitching, winning the batting
title as well as leading the league in OPS, the Handsome one evolved
into one of the best all around players in the HRL in his first season
with the Eagan Reds, finishing in the top 5 in MVP, Yellow Slammer, and
Cy Wiffle voting. He committed just one error in the field, while
dropping his ERA to a microscopic 0.81, impressive even by the lofty
standards of the Reds pitching staff. Perhaps his most impressive
pitching performance came in defeat, as he held the defending Champion
Gothams scoreless through regulation in Game 3 of the 2014 ELCS, before succumbing to a 1-0 extra innings loss. The Reds resident swag-master
has MVP potential, and was recognized by voters when he was the top vote
getter for the Eagan Hitting All-Stars in 2014. Mat moved to Chicago
during the 2015 season and will unfortunately only be playing with the
Reds sporadically during the 2016 season.
PERSONAL
One half of the Free Agent coup the Reds made prior to the 2014 season,
Handsome Mat is a seasoned wiffler who has participated in Wifflin' 4
Wishes for a number of years, winning first place in the summer of 2014.
When he's not terrorizing wiffle pitchers, Mat is in charge of a
program that teaches kids how to swim. See, he really is a nice guy.
