Pitching/Defense:
Another side-armed Pirate, Joe 2 struck out his share of batters last season, but unfortunately had little to show for his efforts in the win/loss columns.
Batting/Baserunning
The Duece topped the majority of the Mariners' offensive categories in 2006, and has developed into a very good hitter for the club. His balanced bat provides HR potential, a decent eye, and the ability to routinely put the ball in the play
2007 Outlook:
Joe will likely anchor the number two spot in the rotation this summer, and appears the have the stuff to be fairly successful. At the dish, he'll be relied on by the new Pirates to continue his hitting ways. If he can reduce his strikeouts, he should be a dependable clean up guy in the middle of the order.
