Pitching/Defense:
Cota may no longer have the fastest 4-seamer around, but it's still good enough to keep him in the upper echelon of east side pitchers. Unlike a lot of guys who've transitioned to the sidearm riser as their sure-strike, Cota's overhand fastball just keeps on producing. His sniper like control lets him hit anywhere on the zone, not allowing hitters to key in on any one location.
Batting/Baserunning
Cota's stick has been consistent throughout his career. Great power and a good eye make up for his pedestrian average and frequent strikeouts.
2007 Outlook:
With the D-Backs, Cota returns to the rotation role he's most comfortable with; alpha-male Ace. His pitching alone likely gives the squad some legitimacy. At the dish, you always know what you're going to get from this guy; a .200 batting average and ding-dong every dozen or so at-bats.
