Pitching/Defense:
Nine’s proven to be a great second option for Pads on the hill. His curve only continues to improve, fooling more and more batters while raising his K-rate above 9.0. He can still battle with his control at times, but when he’s zeroed in, opponents have their work cut out for ‘em.
Batting/Baserunning
Still patient and still disciplined, John made some big strides at the dish in 2006. Raising his average by more than 40 points, he also found a bit of power to compliment his notoriously high OBP. Pitchers now have a lot more to worry about than just throwing strikes against this guy.
2007 Outlook:
Nine’s just a little consistency away from putting up some stellar pitching numbers. No one should be surprised to see him set career marks in wins or ERA this next time around.
