Pitching/Defense:
Agile and fleet footed, Quick can certainly hold his own in the outfield. In one appearance last year, he struck out an impressive 30% of the batters he faced. Unfortunately, he walked another third of them.
Batting/Baserunning
Quick has a smooth swing, but appeared to be more hesitant at the plate than expected. He’s proficient at working counts deep and is very selective, leading to many walks and scoring opportunities. He can hit the ball to all fields, and displays some promising pop.
2007 Outlook:
While his .864 OPS is nothing to scoff at, it seems like it’s only a matter of time before Bill becomes more aggressive in the box, and starts to tee off on hittable pitches that he’s ignored in the past. If he makes that transition, the Pads may be scoring runs in bunches this summer.
