FINAL

Game 1

World Series - Game 1
Braves 5, Reds 3

Sanchez' walkoff HR lifts Braves in 'Series opener!

The Braves picked right up where they left off, ending their second straight playoff game with a walkoff home run, this time it was Sanchez with the heroics, blasting a no-doubter over the chain link in let and giving his club a 5-3 win to open the 2007 World Series.  It was Sanchez' game to be sure, not only did he belt three home runs and drove in all five runs, but he pitched well to earn the victory.  This game was a back and forth affair right out of the gate, as the Reds plated two in the first on Jolly Red Giant's bouncer up the middle that Chops had lined up, but it deflected off second base, giving 'Giant just enough time to eke out a single, scoring a pair.  The Braves answered back in the bottom of the first when Sanchez homered to cut it to 2-1.  Another Sanchez homer (this one a 2-run bomb) in the last of the third put them up 3-2, but the Reds would not go away quietly.  Dr. Seuss launched an opposite field homer over the short porch in right, tying the game in the top of the fifth and setting up the dramatic ending.  Spoon took the loss for the Reds, giving up just four hits (all to Sanchez) and racking up eight K's.
