FINAL

Game 1
World Series - Game 1
Reds 1, Red Sox 0
Game 1 of the World Series rematch between the Red Sox and Reds was a tight pitchers duel, as expected.  What was not expected, however, was the heroics of Tom "Jolly Red Giant" Lally, who hit an opposite-field solo homer to give the Reds the only run they'd need in a 1-0 victory in the series opener.

Jolly Red hadn't played a game all season and was making a cameo for the Reds on this night, so it was shocking for him of all players to come up with the clutch hit.  The Man pitched for the Sox and was the tough luck loser, allowing the one run on just 3 hits, walking one and striking out 11.  Dr. Seuss pitched lights out for the Reds, who allowed two hits and fanned 15 batters in putting up the goose egg.  Rookie Chris "Martini" Rossi was the suprise hitting star for the Sox, collecting both of the team's hits.
