Yankees 10, Brewers 2
First HRL HR a Grand Slam!
The Yankees' David Gustafson hit the HRL's first HR, a grand slam, to kick off a 7 run first inning and the Yanks would never look back, riding the strong pitching of Josh Cota to a dominating 11-2 win to open the season. Cota fanned five while walking only two, carrying a no-hitter through four innings. The Brewers' Jim West had a rough go, walking six, five of those in the Yankees' 7-run first inning. West also let up three Yankee homers.
