Yankees 5, Braves 4
Cota throws heat, takes heat in win
Josh Cota's pitching speed became a point of debate in this one, as the Yankees hung on in the late innings to beat the Braves, 5-4. Cota (2-1) showed some vulnerability against the strong hitting Braves, striking out 7 and uncharacteristically walking six, and was lit up for two homers by Matt Travaille, the second of which came in the bottom of the 6th inning to cut the score to 5-4. Cota had a good game at the plate as well, belting a pair of solo homers of his own and driving in three. Rocket (1-2) pitched a good game for the Braves in coming up short, scattering 7 hits and 4 strikeouts to go with 3 walks.
