Brewers 8, Phillies 5
Brewer bats spring back to life for split
Despite needing another win badly to get back in the thick of things, it wasn't meant to be on this night for the Phillies as the Brewers rebounded from the earlier no-no to earn an 8-5 win and a split. Bill Quick (0-1) made his pitching debut and struggled, walking seven and allowing six hits. Ted hit his first homer for the Brew in the 4th inning, a 2-run shot, and Hendi had a 4-hit game, scoring three times. Joe Lawrence (6-0), continued to pitch and win, becoming the league's first 6-game winner. Joe allowed solo homers to Quick and Peeks, but was in a nice groove outside that, ending the night having pitched 5 innings, striking out 7 and walking just one. Jim "Stat mongering Whore" West came on and had a rocky 6th (allowed a 2-run HR to Shirls) but held on for his league-leading 5th save.
