Lund's dramatics nullify Twins comeback
Greg Lund's solo homer with one out in the bottom of the 8th put Twins pitcher Edgar into shock and gave the A's their sixth win in a row with a 6-5 triumph. The homer was Lund's second of the game  in what turned out to be his night. The Twins had fought back from a 5-0 deficit after three innings against seemingly unflappable pitcher David Mathis (3-0).  Edgar notched the first runs against Mathis all season with a 3-run homer in the top of the 4th to cut it to 5-3. Nelson homered the next inning to make it 5-4, and with the Twins one strike away from defeat in the sixth, Edgar went yard again to tie it at 5 and force extras.  Mathis pitched effectively despite looking human, allowing six hits, whiffing 4 and walking 4. Edgar (1-2) took a tough loss, the killer for him was a rough first inning where he allowed 4 runs on 3 hits and 3 walks.  Edgar struck out 9.
