In the battle of the alphabet game 2, the A's trotted out New Guy and the O's sent out Mark for his debut pitching performance. Kramer welcomed Mark with a solo shot to left field to give the A's a quick 1-0 lead. New Guy started strong, shutting out the O's for 1 inning before things got out of hand. J.R. vowed to punish New Guy after embarassingly going 0-8 last year with 8 K's against him. He got the monkey off his back in the 3rd inning with a 2 run HR. O's cruise to victory 12-1.
Moral of the story for the 2-game series. Kramer and New Guy both have some decent pitches, but need to be more consistent within the strike zone. Once they do that, the ERA's will drop.
