Twins 8, Phillies 7
Two 6th inning Slams provide drama
It was a back-and-forth game as both teams seemed to snatch victory from certain defeat. The killer came as Nelson smashed a walkoff grand slam to seal an 8-7 Twins victory. With Edgar pitching for the win in the top of the sixth and with a 4-1 lead, he fall apart. After striking out Peeks to open the frame, Pace homered to cut it to 4-2. A walk and two straight hits scored another (4-3), then Nine walked to load the bases, enabling Peeks to smash a grand slam to left for a 7-4 Phillies lead. The Twins answered. With Pace on to try for the save, he never retired a batter, walking Nelson, and allowing singles to Jon and Edgar. Nelson provided the game ender with a moon shot over the left field wall. Pace (1-3) took the defeat. Edgar (2-4) pitched great for five innings but fell apart in the sixth, but luckily picked up the win, uncharacteristically walking 9 batters (Nine walked seven more times). Peeks had five hits for the Phils, Pace had 4 hits.
