Braves 2, Phillies 1
Deja-Vu? Phils sent to basement
Another pitcher's duel ended in a 2-1 Braves win and a sweep. Chops had what proved to be the dagger, as he homered off Shirls in the top of the 4th to put the Braves up to stay, 2-0. Shirls (4-2) took the loss in a tough ballgame, allowing the two runs (the first on an ill-advised failed pickoff in the second inning), striking out five and walking one. Sanchez (5-4) also kept his string of good pitching going with an impressive outing, allowing one run on eight hits, with 7 whiffs and 2 walks.
