2013 HRL World Series - Game 2
The starters for game 2 were The Man and Web Gem. The Gothams got something going with 2 on in the top of the 1st but couldn't capitalize. They did strike with an opposite field shot by Hjal in the top of the 2nd that wrapped just inside the right field foul pole. Both pitchers locked in during the middle innings until the Gothams added an insurance run when H8R took a low liner over the left field fence, this time just inside the left field pole. It looked as though the Gothams were well on their way to a second straight HRL title until the Red Sox got a rally going in the bottom of the 6th. To lead off the inning Dirty Steve got on when Hjal dropped the 1st out of the inning. Web Gem came back to strike out Dr. J before going on to walk Edgar and The Man. With the bases loaded Web Gem got the 2nd out by K'ing Martini. Bases loaded with Tugboat up and the first run for the Sox got forced home on the 3rd walk of the inning. Now down by 1, Dirty Steve was back up with 2 outs and the bases still loaded. This time Web Gem got the out with another K and the Gothams defended their title with another 2-1 win.
Post game festivities included beer provided by Jagr and brick oven pizza at Hjal's.
