Noobs' HRs, Ten's pitching mow down Royals in opener
In a completely unexpected performance, Ten dominated the heavily-favored Royals in the season's opening tilt by a 7-2 score. Rocket's seeing eye grounder up the middle was the only hit allowed by Ten (1-0) who was masterful (14 K's) despite some obvious control issues (8 BB). Ten featured a nasty sinker with some good velocity that kept the Royals guessing all night. The Royals lost a 2-0 lead in the third inning for good when rookie Brian Aylmer fought off an inside pitch and hit an oppo grand slam over the short porch in right, putting the Yars up 4-2 and shocking the Royals bench. Rocket (0-1) lasted just 3 1/3 innings before giving way to Torpedo in the 4th, who later in the inning surrended a 3-run homer off the bat of another rookie, Seth "Gym Class" Neuschwander, just over the left field corner to increase the lead to 7-2.
