Twins 2, Brewers 1 - 8 Innings
K-Mart mows down Crew
A slim n 'trim K-Mart (1-0) got the nod for the 2007 opener and did nothing but impress against the Twins' division rivals. Fanning 15 Brewers in 8 frames, Gillund was on fire, allowing only 1 run on 1 hit after a ground ball error in the 3rd. K-Mart tied things up himself with a sacrifice fly in the 4th, and the score stayed knotted at 1 apiece through seven and a half. Joe Lawrence (0-1) did a decent job keeping the Twins' bats at bay for most of the night, but couldn't escape trouble in the bottom of the eighth. Back to back lead-off singles by Mart and Nelson set up Ballster's game winning base knock, giving the Central Champs a well deserved first game victory.
