Game 1 started just after about a 5 minute downpour, leaving Central nothing but a big wet mud pit. Singles were turned to outs, doubles were turned to singles, sometimes outs... but the games must go on! K-Mart started for the Twins, in a fairly uneventful game. He showed great command with his pitches all game long despite the sloppy conditions. Walking none and giving up just four hits in the game, he made just one mistake, leaving a pitch up for Lil' Randall in the first that he turned on for a HR which would prove to be the only run of the game. Tugboat got the start for the Red Sox, tossing 6 innings of shutout ball, walking 2 and giving up just 1 hit in the game, his 2nd consecutive 1-hitter.
