PLAYER PROFILE
The Reds made Richard "Pooh Bear" Crabb their first pick in the 2009 HRL
draft. A CF by trade, Pooh Bear was signed to shore up some defensive
holes for the defending champions, while providing the Commies with a
consistent on base and speed threat on the base paths. While it took
some time for Pooh to adjust to HRL pitching, he has improved steadily
at the dish, increasing his OPS in each of his first four seasons. His
career triple slash of .225/.344/.424 doesn't accurately reflect the
hitter he has become. 2013 saw Pooh reach a career high in HRs with 20,
and in 2014, he set a new career high with a .395 OBP, a number he
nearly duplicated with his .389 OBP in 2015. Additionally, he's had a
knack for clutch hits since his rookie season, when he drove in the
winning run in the 2009 HRL Championship against the Red Sox. Pooh Bear
is a remarkable defensive player, successfully converting 171 of his
first 172 defensive chances into outs in 2014, and boasts a career
98.74% fielding percentage, and routinely making the Reds pitching staff
look great. Whether his reputation has finally made the HRL rounds, or
someone was actually filming the seemingly impossible catch he made on
the Valley "grass" (read: concrete) at full extension, but the league
finally honored Richard with not only his first All-Star selection, but
also the Eagan Sticky Paw and Jack Cust awards in 2014. In 2015, he
highlighted Game 2 of the World Series with a 4 hit game off of 3 time
Cy Wiffler, Sticks, helping the Reds to a crucial series tying victory.
PERSONAL
A lawyer by trade, Richard and his wife Liz "Lady Red" Crabb now reside
in Farmington, MN and are raising a 6 year old cat "Sosa." Lady Red is
the Reds official scorekeeper, statistician, and resident super fan.
She was actually in attendance for more Reds games than Richard in 2014,
and Richard only missed 1 night. Lady Red has also been known to voice
her opinion during pivotal moments of games. As the Gothams learned in
2014, no matter what she says, you don't mess with Pooh Bear's honey.
