Rocket one-hits the Phillies
Nine led the game off with a homer and that was the only run production that the Phillies would muster as Rocket (1-0) got the win by keeping the Phillies' bats off balance as he only allowed the one hit and struck out eight. The Braves offense did the rest as they seemed to have Shirls figured out. Shirls (0-1) took the loss as he gave up nine runs on nine hits and three walks and struck out eight. Chops proved his MVP worth as he blasted two home runs, driving in five of the Braves nine runs, and Tom P. accounted for the other four runs going 3-6 with home run.
