Wifflestock Series: Game 3

Phillies 3, Braves 1
Shirls dominates, Phillies move on
Shirls (1-1) was as close to perfection as the wind would allow as he blanked the Braves bats, allowing no hits, but gave up one run on a walk and error in the bottom of the fifth inning. The Phillies came out swinging against Rocket and scored their first run in the second inning off of three consecutive hits by Peeks, Nine, and Shirls. A two-run homer by Peeks in the top of the fifth inning would prove to be the nail in the coffin as Shirls made the Braves hitters look foolish by striking out fourteen. Rocket (1-1) took the loss, giving up three runs off six hits and four walks, while striking out seven.
