FINAL

Game 2
Wifflestock Series: Game 2
Phillies 5, Braves 4
Peeks comes up with big win
Facing elimination, the Phillies turned to a most unlikely source for a solid pitching performance: Peeks. It certainly was the story of "the little pitcher that could" as the thirty-year-old Peeks looked past his 1-6 regular season record and searched deep within himself for the power to quiet the powerful bats of the Braves. He had to wonder, "How many runs can I give up and still win?" The answer would be four. At first it looked like the Braves would keep up their overwhelming run production as Chops drove in Rocket with a triple in the first inning. Pace would tie the game by sending Sanchez's best Walter Johnson windup impression over the right field fence. From there the game would get serious as both pitchers faced a constant battle with the opposing batters and the wind. The Braves were able to score single runs in both the third and fifth innings, but going into the sixth the Phillies clung onto a 5-3 lead thanks to a huge four run fourth inning.  In the top of the sixth Chops hit a leadoff solo homer to cut the Phillies' lead to one, but Peeks (1-0)  settled down and closed the game out to keep the Phillies' playoff hopes alive. Sanchez (0-1) had a horrible day on the mound, never getting comfortable as he allowed five runs off five hits and a gave up a horrendous ten walks.
